Jess Laurino, LCSW

Hey there! I’m Jess, and I’m the founder of Root and River Collective—a space I created to move beyond the traditional therapy model and into something more expansive and collaborative.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in both New Mexico and Colorado with over a decade of experience in the behavioral health field. Originally from New York, I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University at Buffalo, where I laid the foundation for my work in co-occurring treatment, trauma-informed care, and substance use recovery. Over the years, I’ve lived and worked internationally as an educator, clinician, advocate, and artist—experiences that have deeply shaped my belief in the importance of culturally responsive, community-centered care.

My work is guided by a deep belief in the power of connection, creativity, and community. I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, attachment wounds, grief, and identity exploration—especially those who feel called to reclaim their voice and step into a more authentic sense of self.

Root and River Collective was born from my desire to weave together all the parts of my work: therapy, clinical supervision, and consultation for recovery-based programs and providers. Whether I’m holding space in the therapy room, supporting LMSWs and LMHCs through licensure, or partnering with organizations to improve clinical programming and staff cohesion—I approach it all with the same goal: to build inclusive, ethical, and heart-centered systems of care.

Outside of work, I’m also a jewelry artist, traveler, and someone who deeply values nontraditional paths of healing. This practice reflects that belief—that recovery and growth don’t look the same for everyone, and our systems of support shouldn’t either.
